If you were around RCTV late last week, you might have thought techs were doing repairs to RCTV’s antenna or tower. In fact, they were doing an exciting new installation! They climbed the tower to mount an antenna for WXIR, a low power FM station that RCTV received permission from the FCC earlier this year to build, and that will launch in Spring of 2016. WXIR LPFM will be broadcast on 100.9.

If you’d like to share your thoughts about programming, or you’re interested in getting involved, please join us for a community town hall meeting at RCTV on Tuesday, November 17 from 6:30 – 7:30 PM.

At the meeting, we’ll be looking for insights on what radio programming the community might want and need, and what programming is currently missing in today’s local on-air radio selection. And we need your insights!

We’ll also be distributing audition guidelines for anyone interested in volunteering to become an on-air disc jockey or radio show host. We are looking for both youths and adults to have an on-air presence.

So please plan to join us at 21 Gorham Street (off St. Paul Street) on Tuesday, November 17 at 6:30 PM to help us shape the future of WXIR that will expand RCTV’s role as Rochester’s award-winning Community Media Center.
