Congratulations to all of City of Rochester organizations that banded together on Friday, May 30 to organize and sponsor an after-school carnival called May King a Difference for Rochester City youths that was held in RCTV’s parking lot. There were close to 150 youths who attended and approximately 25 adults who were onsite to run the activities and share information on issues of health and wellness.
The kids had a great time, shooting hoops, listening and dancing to the music, enjoying the face painting and games, making a positive message PSA, jumping in the bounce house and making their way through the blow up obstacle course. It’s a toss whether the snow cones, the popcorn, the cotton candy or the food was more popular, but it certainly didn’t go to waste as both kids and adults enjoyed a first taste of summer, sampling these treats
An event like this takes a lot of time, effort and coordination on the part of many people to organize , set up and tear it down afterwards. But their efforts were well-rewarded by the excitement and enthusiasm of the kids who mingled easily and had a great time. At one point, the groups even formed a big circle to encourage members to compete doing hip hop moves.
Bravo and Kudos to all involved to create such a wonderful and successful event and for “May King a Difference” to these kids!
