Rochester’s Memorial Art Gallery has loads of activities happening in celebration of Black History Month! Below are some of the highlights.
- Inspiring Beauty: 50 Years of Ebony Fashion Fair -This stunning exhibit showcases the works of designers such as Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Stephen Burrows, Patrick Kelly, Valentino, Vivienne Westwood, and Alexander McQueen that were part of the Ebony Fashion Fair. The Ebony Fashion Fair was the brainchild of Eunice Johnson, co-founder of Johnson Publishing, that launched Ebony and Jet Magazines. This exhibit, that incorporates designs from the Fashion Fair that toured the U.S. annually for 50 years, helped raise funds for local charities in the communities it toured through. It was Ms. Johnson’s goal, through fashion, to inspire black women everywhere. MAG is the exclusive venue in the Northeast for this stunning, not-to-be-missed exhibit that runs through April 24.
