If you’ve been sitting in front of the TV this winter thinking, “There’s nothing on that I really wanna watch. I’d like to see a show about… [fill in the bank on whatever interests you],” the spring season is a great time to sign up for classes. You’ll finish with classes just before the nice weather hits so you can take your new skills to the streets!
This Spring, RCTV is offering a full round of classes, including documentary filmmaking that is traditionally offered only in the fall. Sign up for one of the following classes, and here’s what you’ll get out of them:
- Digital Video Editing (beginner level) – This 6-week class runs from 5 PM to 6 PM beginning February 25 and ending April 1. When you complete this class, you’ll have a hands-on working knowledge of how to ingest video from a camera and “splice and dice” it digitally to share your ideas. No prior experience necessary.
- TV Studio Production – For 8 weeks, running from 6 PM to 7:30 PM beginning February 25 and ending April 15, you’ll work together with others in the class to conceptualize, produce and film a minimum of four TV programs of the class’ design. No prior experience necessary.
- Documentary Filmmaking – Beginning February 26 and running through April 16, from 6 PM to 7:30 PM, you’ll not only discover what goes into the making of a documentary, you’ll have the opportunity to create one yourself! Note: This class offers very basic skills in editing, but you may wish to take the digital editing class simultaneously, or during another semester.
