ROCHESTER, NY -- RCTV recently received not one, but TWO prestigious national awards for our work on the 2020 documentary Clarissa Uprooted!
Clarissa Uprooted tells the story of Rochester's predominantly-Black Third Ward and the legacy of policies like redlining that continue to shape our city today. The documentary was produced by RCTV in partnership with Teen Empowerment and the Clarissa Street Reunion Committee.
This summer, the documentary won a Silver Telly Award as well as a Hometown Media Award from the Alliance for Community Media.
We're so pleased Clarissa Uprooted is receiving this much-deserved recognition. And we’re not done yet! The Clarissa Uprooted project continues with a virtual reality video that will be exhibited in 2022.
So stay tuned for more storytelling excellence at the intersection of community media, youth empowerment, and Black history!
